Your family's stories belong to your family.

StorySG is an upcoming Singapore social enterprise. We make the StorySG family handbook app and run workshops that help families write their first pages. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your family can do with it. We follow Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
What we collect
- Your sign-in details. You sign in with your own Google account. We receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google. We never see your Google password.
- What your family adds to the handbook. Voice recordings, text, photos, videos, the written-up pages, and who told each story and when.
- Your family members. The names and email addresses of people you invite, and their role in the family handbook.
- Payments. If you buy the Family plan, a payment provider handles your card. We keep a record of what you bought and when, but not your full card number.
- How the app is used. Basic technical information, such as device type and error logs, so we can keep the app working.
- Website visits. Our website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies, to count visits and see which pages are read.
How we use it
- To run the app: keep your handbook, suggest questions, and send the reminders you set.
- To do the AI work you ask for, such as transcribing a recording, translating a page or shaping a page from what someone said.
- To send emails about your account, such as a reminder 7 days before your plan renews or a note when storage is almost full.
- To answer your questions and arrange workshops you book.
AI and your words
AI shapes what a person said and never makes it up. The original recording or text is always kept beside the written version. To do this work, your content is sent to AI service providers who process it only to complete the task you asked for.
Who can see your handbook
Your handbook is private to your family. The Family Champion owns it and decides who joins. Family members can read and add, and others can be given read-only access. StorySG staff only look at a handbook when you ask us to help, or when the law requires it.
Consent
Ask before you record anyone's story, voice or photo. For someone who has passed, the family decides together before adding anything about them. Anyone who appears in a handbook can ask for their entry to be changed or removed. Children take part with a parent or guardian's agreement.
Your choices
- Download everything in your handbook at any time.
- Move it elsewhere or delete it at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Withdraw your consent, and we will stop using your data for that purpose.
If a Family plan ends, nothing is deleted. Your family can still read and download everything. If StorySG stopped tomorrow, every family would keep their book.
How we keep it safe
Your data is encrypted while it travels and while it is stored. Sign-in security, including two-factor checks and account recovery, comes from your Google account. Access inside the app follows your family's roles.
How long we keep it
We keep your handbook for as long as your account is open. When you delete a handbook or your account, we delete it from our systems. Copies in our backups are removed when those backups expire.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
